Notes for Joshua Chapter 22

An altar called Ed built by Jordan river.
Joshua 22:1-8
Joshua sends the 2 1/2 tribes of Israel back to their land on the other side of Jordan.

Joshua 22:9-10
While going home those 2 1/2 tribes of Israel decided to build an altar by the Jordan river.

Joshua 22:11-14
After the rest of the Israel heard about that altar by Jordan river, they got ready for war, but in order to find out the reason for that altar, they sent a priest with ten princes of Israel.

Joshua 22:15-20
Phinehas the priest and the 10 princes of the 10 tribes of Israel came and asked the 2 1/2 tribes about that altar.

Joshua 22:21-29
Reubenites, Gadites, and the 1/2 of Manasseh explain the reason for that altar being built.

Joshua 22:30-33
The 11 men approved of the explanation for the altar and when they returned back, they stopped the plans for war.

Joshua 22:34
The 2 1/2 tribes named that altar Ed = (possible meaning is “A Witness”).
